It is with the greatest of pride and pleasure that I stand before all of you today and prepare to hand off my Miss Globe Universal crown.
It has been a whirlwind of a year! It is hard to believe that a full year has already passed by. When I started my journey into the Miss Globe Universal pageant I had no idea really what I had gotten myself into. It has been a year of extreme growth and learning, and one that I would not trade for the world.
When I started my journey it was for the love of fashion and dressing up. My inner child had the best of me. I met a variety of amazing woman with whom I still hold the friendships close to my heart. When I won the crown I entered into a realm of service, I was asked to organize, run and execute a fund raiser for my chosen charity of Autism Speaks. I am not sure that anything could have prepared me for the hard work that lay ahead of me.
That was where my journey with Rose started. She has been a wealth of knowledge, a confident, a supervisor and a friend. I have learned many things from her. Thank you Rose for being such a wonderful mentor.
As you ladies are here to find where your next path may lead you, I would offer a word of advice. Modeling is very subjective and with each new agency or pageant that you come into contact with, you will learn a new set of rules. Know who you are modeling for and what they may expect. But above all, I hope that you will realize that you are in competition with no one. The only competition you should feel is for yourself. If you can stretch yourself to new heights, learn new things, become innovative and feel your successes, you will be able to look back and see your own growth. That will be your true measure.
I would be remiss if I did not thank my many supporters, fans, friends and family for being there for all my successes but also for my many failures. If it were not for failures we would never refine ourselves. May Miss Globe Universal be one of your many refining moments in this SL lifetime.
So here is to the next Miss Globe Universal, may she hold her title with honor, strength and dignity, and may the rest of you ladies hold your experiences dear and remember that you are a step closer to owning your own crown.
